1. Who we are
Lecture Studio is a service that turns recorded lectures into produced lectures. It is operated by the legal entity of Lecture Studio (“Lecture Studio”, “we”, “us”).
These Terms are the agreement between you and the legal entity of Lecture Studio. They cover the website at lecturestudio.ai, the application at app.lecturestudio.ai, the Lecture Studio Teleprompter and any related service we provide (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
Questions about these Terms go to contact@lecturestudio.ai.
2. Using the Service for an institution
If you use the Service on behalf of a university, school, company or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it, and “you” means that organisation as well as you personally.
If your organisation has signed a separate written agreement with the legal entity of Lecture Studio, that agreement takes priority over these Terms wherever the two differ.
3. Your account
You sign in with your email address and a one-time code that we send to it. Keep access to that mailbox secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
You must be an adult under the law of the place where you live to hold an account. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
4. Your content
“Your content” is what you put into the Service: recordings, scripts, slide decks, logos, names and anything else you upload or submit. It stays yours.
You give Lecture Studio permission to store, copy, process, edit and reproduce your content for one purpose: providing the Service to you. That includes transcribing it, planning and rendering the produced lecture, and letting the people in your workspace review it.
You confirm that you have the right to give us your content and that using it this way breaks no law and no one else’s rights. In particular, you confirm that:
- everyone who can be seen or heard in a recording has agreed to be recorded and to the recording being produced and shared, or that you otherwise have a lawful basis for it;
- you have any permission your institution requires;
- you have the right to use any third-party material that appears in your content, such as images, music, text or software.
5. What we produce for you
The produced lecture and what comes with it (captions, transcript, chapters, objectives, takeaways and the visuals placed in your lecture) are for you to use, publish and distribute for your teaching, once any fees due for that lecture are paid.
Some visuals are generic: an illustration of a circuit or a short clip of a market, for example. Visuals that do not contain your recording, your people, your name or your branding may be reused by Lecture Studio in other productions. You have a non-exclusive right to use them as part of your produced lectures.
The Service itself, including its software, templates, styles and brand, belongs to the legal entity of Lecture Studio. These Terms do not transfer any of it to you.
6. Automated production and your review
Lectures are produced by automated systems. Captions, transcripts, summaries and visuals can contain mistakes, including factual and academic ones.
The Service shows you the plan and the result so that you can check them. You are responsible for reviewing a produced lecture before you publish it or give it to students, and for the accuracy of what you publish. Lecture Studio does not publish your lectures for you.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else’s rights, or that you have no right to share;
- upload recordings of people who have not agreed to be recorded;
- try to break, overload, probe or bypass the security of the Service;
- copy, scrape, resell or build a competing service from the Service without our written agreement;
- use the Service to create content that deceives people about who is speaking or what was said.
We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.
8. The Teleprompter
The Lecture Studio Teleprompter is provided free of charge for now. We may change it, limit it or withdraw it.
It runs in your browser. Your script, your slide deck and your recordings stay on your device unless you choose to send a recording to Lecture Studio. Recordings are saved to your own computer, and keeping copies of them is your responsibility.
9. Fees
Prices are shown before anything is rendered, by tier and by the finished minute. You owe the price shown for a lecture when you approve it for production. Prices do not include taxes unless we say so; you are responsible for any taxes that apply to you.
We may offer free samples or free tools at our discretion and may end those offers.
If a production fails, or does not match the plan you approved, tell us at contact@lecturestudio.ai within 14 days of receiving it. We will correct it or, if we cannot, refund what you paid for that lecture.
10. Confidentiality and publicity
We treat your content and your unpublished lectures as confidential. We share them only with the people and providers who need them to deliver the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
We will not use your lectures, your name or your logo in our marketing without your permission.
11. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what personal data we handle and why. Where you use the Service for an institution, the institution decides how the personal data in its lectures is used and we handle it on the institution’s instructions.
12. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available and to improve it, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. Features change. A feature marked “Soon” is not yet available and may change before it is.
13. Disclaimers and limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the legal entity of Lecture Studio is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, revenue, data or reputation, or for what happens because a lecture was published without being reviewed. Its total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to the fees you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place where you live.
14. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account and content by writing to contact@lecturestudio.ai.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, that puts the Service or other users at risk, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you the chance to retrieve your produced lectures.
The sections on your content, what we produce, fees owed, disclaimers, liability and governing law continue to apply after the agreement ends.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the legal entity of Lecture Studio is established, and the courts of that country have jurisdiction over disputes about them. This does not remove any mandatory protection or right to bring a claim that you have under the law of the place where you live.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email or in the application before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
